The Tufting Machine Operator is ultimately responsible for all activity on the machine to which they are assigned.
- To oversee creelers and ensure the creel is being loaded with the correct yarn and being tied correctly
- To oversee their menders to ensure the turf is being properly inspected and mended
- To ensure all paperwork (roll tags, creel out tags, and production orders) is filled out correctly
- To run the machine, this entails threading needles, fixing pull downs, changing blades and hooks and changing backing when needed
- The above referenced individual is responsible for all of the above and anything else deemed necessary by Management
- Get a work order from Supervisor
- After machine is set up and tied in, weight check needs to be done and signed off on work order
- Make sure yarn lots are correct
- First tufted roll should be laid out in floor for inspection- Work order needs to be signed off by QC or supervisor
- Other quality checks: Streaks throughout width of roll, streaks from texture, dark line/band, light line/band, low line, shag line, crossed end on A/B Thread up.
- Make sure have enough backing to run the roll
- Need to manage creel to make sure yarn is at the creel and cut back if needed.
- Check all roll sizes
- When near end of work order- know what your next work order is to determine what status is on yarn – weather yarn will stay on machine or strip creel.
- Turn in work order to supervisor
- Question anything that seem incorrect with supervisor
- Always stop machine if anything seems unsafe
Responsible for additional duties and accountabilities that will be assigned as needed.
- Previous experience operating machinery in a warehouse or manufacturing setting
- Ability to handle materials and perform basic materials handling tasks
The Machine Operator will be responsible for setting up machines, monitoring their operation, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring the quality of finished products. They should have good attention to detail, be able to follow safety protocols, and work well in a team environment.
$16 - $20 an hour
